Insitu Cap and Sand Cover Armament

Costly sand covers and caps often require armament, and Brennan can offer a variety of options that will ensure long-lasting protection.  This includes traditional rock placement, pre-cast articulating-block concrete mats, and cast-in-place concrete mats.

Brennan typically carries out rock placement using a methodical installation process that will not affect the newly constructed underlying cap.  Our excavators are outfitted with clamshell buckets and state-of-the-art positioning technology, giving our operators the tools they need to ensure complete coverage.

We also offer alternatives to traditional rock placement.  Precast articulating block concrete mats will last longer than rock armament and will result in a lower profile cap.  This system is ideal for areas with steep slopes or heavy vessel traffic that are susceptible to scour.  Brennan has 100+ divers on staff that are able to accurately place and assemble an underwater precast concrete mat system.

Brennan can also install a cast-in-place, fabric-formed, articulating concrete mat.  This system is a very common solution in high scour areas and can be formed to line embankments and river bottoms.  The system is cabled together, similar to the precast system, however it uses a fabric form that is injected with high-strength grout.  This method is one of the most economical methods specialty armament that will outlast traditional rock placement.
