Side Scan Sonar for Dams

Side scan sonar uses acoustic imaging to gather pictures of the areas surrounding the dam.  This tool is very useful in getting details on scour conditions, debris, historical structures, and more.  Imagery can be combined to give a holistic view of the entire river bottom.

At Brennan, our hydrographers use customized survey vessels to collect the underwater imaging data. They can survey right up to the dam and gather critical data in zero-visibility conditions.  This imagery can be combined with multibeam bathymetry to get a clear picture of what is happening around the dam for a complete underwater inspection.
