Armored caps are becoming more popular when it comes to protecting newly installed sand caps from erosion and scour. This layer of armament is important to increasing the longevity of the cap, ensuring that contaminated sediments are not re-exposed by currents, wildlife, seiches, or human interference. Brennan has been placing armored caps for several years to remediate scour and erosion around water-based structures. With this experience, we have developed effective procedures, ensuring cap armament is placed without disrupting the underlying sand cap.
Armament comes in varying sizes. Brennan can use the traditional method of placing the armored cap using mechanical capping methods, or in the case of smaller stone (less than 3 inches), we can place using our BCS.
