Throughout our involvement on environmental dredging projects, we have encountered many challenges. The ability to respond and adapt to these challenges is the difference between success and failure, and is what has set us apart. Brennan has consistently adapted and developed appropriate strategies to respond to challenges encountered during remedial operations.
We partner closely with our dredge vendors and suppliers to create the most applicable tools to achieve a successful remediation. Often, industry standards must be redefined in order to achieve specific goals for individual clients. At Brennan, we also embrace our clients’ ideas and respond with solutions that exceed their expectations. Our in-house engineers are able to facilitate new design ideas as well as work with suppliers to transform equipment and process concepts into reality. Brennan understands the importance of being just one part of the project team and communicates openly with our partners to ensure the project’s success. The following are some examples of the ideas we have developed with many of our suppliers and team members over the years:
Patented Vic Vac™ dredge suction attachment for removing residual sediment over hardpan bottoms
- Dredge bow thrusters to decrease dredge swing times in light faces (i.e., thin lifts of sediment)
- Hull modifications to reduce dredge draft for shallow conditions, and pitch and roll for instrument accuracy
- Development of an articulating dredge head to improve dredge accuracy and reduce disposal costs
- A modified hydraulic attachment for an excavator that allows removal around Z-Type steel sheet piling
- Several custom software packages to record and analyze dredge data
- Cutter head shears to eliminate dredge cavitation due to aquatic plant life and ropes
- Internally developed activated carbon injection systems
- Innovative material separation units
