ID&D® – Integrated Dredging & Dewatering
Integrated Dredging & Dewatering – ID&D® was developed by Brennan to respond to client’s demands to develop an integrated process of dredging and dewatering. Many clients desired the added benefit of being able to re-utilize dredged sediments which required a system capable of segregating and dewatering sediments as well as the ability to remove any debris. Further, many clients had insufficient space to passively dewater dredged slurries. Brennan’s ID&D® system uses a combination of chemical and mechanical methods to achieve high-speed segregation and dewatering of the dredged sediments. Geotubes are often used to contain and dewater the fine grain sediments.
Benefits:
Continuous process - Dredging through dewatering is one integrated system
No need for settling basins - Eliminates berm, return water systems and containment area restoration
Eliminates long pipelines and boosters
Processes a variety of materials - Handles a wide variety of sediment types, grain sizes and debris
Highly automated - Due to computerization, only two people are needed to operate dewatering system
Optimizes polymer consumption - Computer controlled polymer addition is integrated with real-time measurement
of solids content of the dredge slurry
Low turbidity of return water - Water returned directly to waterway or used as process water
Environmentally sensitive - All equipment, systems, and materials are designed to be environmentally sensitive.
Dewatered material is stackable & available immediately - Ready for beneficial use, recycling, treatment, packaging, transport and/or disposal
Streamlines agency permitting - Eliminates groundwater mounding and return water issues
from borrow site to containment areas
